Show The Pioneer Post Volume I Issue 3 Marriott-Slaterville City Newsletter December 1999 Message from the Mayor At this time of giving thanks for our blessings, I think we are blessed for what has taken place in the last year. We have made major steps in preserving our heritage by forming our city government and protecting our borders. It has taken a lot of ingenuity, thrifty, pervasive management, and above all literally thousands of man-hours of work by many folks who give of themselves in "volunteerism" to make the city work. I want to thank each one of them for their efforts, and everyone within the city for the trust and confidence that you have placed in the council and I to lead you. I wish you all health and happiness in the New Year of 2000. I pledge to all I can to make our city something we will all be proud of. Please discuss any concerns regarding city executive staff or their actions with Mayor Butler or the city administrator.) Licensing and Permits by Duncan Torr Murray, Administrator/Attorney Business licenses for 2000 are now being renewed, since Marriott-Slaterville City has assumed this responsibility from Weber County. The City Council has set an interim flat rate fee of $100.00 for general business licenses and $5 for home businesses (no visiting clientele without a conditional use permit). The flat rate fee shall remain in effect until the city can conduct a service use study and prepare a new business license fee schedule based upon the level of service used by each class of businesses. Building permits must be obtained for all new construction, any additions, barns, or sheds. Pick up an application from the city office during office hours to start the process. The application is then reviewed by the building inspector who determines the amount of the filing fee based on state guidelines. The applicant then works with the building inspector until construction is completed. Additional inspections and instruction will be given by the Weber Fire District, Bona Vista, and the City Public Works Director (Steve Mecham). If you have any questions, or if you see a possible building code/zoning violation, please contact the city during office hours at 627-1919. 355 |
