Show Bill Marriott Morris 2249 West 700 South Marriott-Slaterville, UT 84404 Telephone: 731-1726 December 28, 1998 Curtis Christensen Weber County Public Works 2380 Washington Blvd. Ogden, UT 84401 Re: Marriott-Slaterville road repairs Dear Mr. Christensen; This letter will confirm our conversation on the above date at the county offices where I indicated to you two major road problems in Marriott-Slaterville. The first problem being the county road on 1200 West, crossing the railroad tracks near 17th Street. Secondly, is the problem with the county road surrounding the Dinsdale Subdivision by Pioneer Elementary. As I indicated to you, Steve Mecham, a sponsor for our incorporation, told me that he has previously spoken with you about these same concerns, and on the first problem you simply told him that it was a "UDOT problem." When Mr. Mecham approached Tom Vahill with UDOT, he was told that this was a county road and they were not responsible to maintain the rail road crossing at 1200 West. Mr. Mecham has also approached the railroad about this crossing which have fallen into great disrepair and was told by the railroad that they were willing to fix the crossing as soon as approval was granted by the county. When I confronted you on this matter you indicated to me that you never told Mr. Mecham to go to UDOT, and you had not seen the status of the railroad crossing on 1200 West. Further, you told me that I would have to contact Kelly Hipwell regarding this matter, which I indicated to you that I would do as per your instruction. Yet, when I contacted Mr. Mecham following my conversation with you, he again confirmed that you had told him this was a UDOT matter, which you presently deny. Mr. Mecham and I have worked very closely through the entire township and incorporation process of Marriott-Slaterville, and I never have known him to mistake an instruction from a county employee. It has been over a year since Mr. Mecham originally reported the problem at this crossing to the county, long before our incorporation election occurred. The residents on 184 |
