To The Residents of Marriott-Slaterville City We live in a day when there is much said of a negative nature about almost everything. So much so, in fact, that it's easy to forget some of the things for which we need to be optimistic. Ours is still the land of "spacious skies and Amber waves of grain, of purple mountains majesty above the fruited plain"still the greatest nation on earth, with a heaven inspired Constitution. Oh, how thankful we should be for the liberties and freedoms we have here. These two proud communities have great histories and some honored traditions. Now we are one, Marriott-Slaterville City. We move forward together with a resolve to keep this city a good place for families, for people, for children. One of the ways we can insure this resolve is by keeping alive one of our traditions. VOTING!! Marriott and Slaterville have always been tops in the county in voter turnout. We have felt that voting was more than a privilege, but even an obligation and duty. We know of one resident who has voted in every election since he was 21. He is now 92, and in a rest home. We dare say he will vote again this November 2nd. There are, no doubt, others in the city with equally great records. DON'T FORGET!! November 2nd 1999 is Election Day for Marriott-Slaterville City!
