Excerpts from the Board Minutes help to explain the education development as follows: May 26, 1939 "Slaterville and Marriott students of grades one to eight inclusive be transported to the Wilson School where they can be added to the present enrollment. Motion passed." November 16, 1939 "Mr. Child moved that inasmuch as the town of Marriott is unincorporated that clear title to the Marriott School building and grounds be conveyed to the Marriott Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as trustee for the community for $10.00. This motion was passed with the understanding that the building and grounds would be used as a community center and not be sold. Motion passed." July 2, 1942 "Mr. Child moved that the school building and grounds at Marriott be conveyed to the Marriott Corporation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the sum of $10.00; that a quit claim deed be given. Motion passed." The Marriott School building was torn down during the summer of 1952. Several improvements have been made on the property. Trees have been planted, a baseball backstop and field are being used, a bowery and cement slab have been built. Community members have provided materials, funds and labor to make these improvements. This community park is used annually for a Fourth of July celebration. At the present time (1979) there are students from Marriott in grades one through six attending Pioneer School at 250 North 1600 West in Slaterville. The students in the seventh, eighth, and ninth grades go to the Wahlquist Junior High School at 1033 North 1200 West, Farr West; and grades ten, eleven and twelve go to Weber High School, 3650 North 500 West in Pleasant View.
