MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE CITY HISTORY MARCH 2000 Mayor Butler was grateful this month that the winter was mild because the City saved a substantial amount of money no having to snow plow roads. This City Council passed a resolution revising the sewer policy for the City. Officials at the Weber County Public Works Office have refused to maintain several existing sewer lines after previously indicating they would continue to maintain. By refusing the maintain these lines, the County is essentially forcing them upon our City. It has been the City's policy not to get into the "sewer business". However, with this conflict, the City may consider doing a special service district solely for sewer maintenance of these existing lines, with no expansion on the part of the City. Also, Council President Holley desires the City to keep pursuing getting our City represented on the Central Weber Sewer District Board, especially since the sewer plant is in our City. Also this months: 1. Scott Van Leeuwen donated a sound system for the city hall. 2. The Mayor and Council approved a letter by staff to the LDS Church about acquiring Marriott Park and Slaterville Park for the City. 3. Ogden mayor Godfrey contact Mayor Butler about supporting a commuter rail line to Salt Lake City. Mayor Butler also is seeking to get the current city hall building on DDO permanently from Ogden City. 343
