June 18, 1999 County to charge new city for police OGDEN - Weber County will charge the new city of Marriott-Slaterville $66,000 a year for its first year of police protection, but the price will go up after that. The Weber County commissioners signed a contract Tuesday to provide police protection to the newly-formed city, which will be incorporated on July 1. Sheriff Brad Slater said he will be providing the city the equivalent of two full-time officers, although the officers will actually be part of a precinct taking in the city, the county industrial park, the county fairgrounds and some unincorporated area as well. Slater said the cost will be $66,000 the first year, $73,000 the second year and $82,000 the third, mostly due to inflation and start up costs. However, he said, that also includes use of federal fund grants those three years. He said the fourth year the cost will go up to $ 104,000 after those grants expire.
