Show Details of Marriott-Slaterville ballot By CHARLES F. TRENTELMAN Standard-Examiner staff The ballot for the vote next Tuesday on incorporation of Marriott-Slaterville contains three questions: Should the two townships incorporate, yes or no? If incorporation passes, what form of municipal government should the new city have? (A) Council-Mayor, (B) City Council or (C Council-Manager. In Council-Mayor form, the city council is a separate legislative body that sets policy and decides the budget. The mayor is the city's administrator, enforcing the policies set by the council. Ogden City is an example of this form of government. In City Council form, a council and mayor are elected, but the mayor is a non-voting member of the city council except to preside over meetings and vote to break a tie. While nominally the city's head, and while carrying some appointive power, his position is mostly ceremonial. Farr West is an example of this form of government. The Council-Manager form is the same as City Council except a city manager or administrator is hired to run the city's day-to-day operations. Roy City is an example of this form of government. If incorporation passes, should city council members be elected at-large, each by the whole city, or by districts, with separate neighborhoods each electing their own representatives? To vote, people must be registered voters who live within the limits of the townships. The election will be held Aug. 4, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the Pioneer Elementary School, 250 N. 1600 West.
