Show RESOLUTION 98-1 BY/OF THE PETITION SPONSORS FOR MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE CITY REGARDING THE NUMBER OF AND TERMS OF CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS AND REGARDING THE DRAWING OF COUNCIL DISTRICT BOUNDARIES FOR MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE CITY WHEREAS, the Petition Sponsors for Marriott-Slaterville City were required, pursuant to Utah Code Section 10-2-114, to hold a public hearing regarding the determination of the number of city council members and city council districts, as well as the determination of the initial terms of the mayor and city council members and other related issues, said public hearing being held on August 20, 1998 commencing at 6:30 p.m.; and, WHEREAS, said Petition Sponsors have caused, in cooperation with the County Clerk's Office, the required notices to be printed in the newspaper, and have caused additional (not legally required) notices to be sent to every household in the limits of said city, and have caused the public hearing to be held with comment and input from the public as required by law, with copies of the (newspaper) notice and agenda for the meeting attached as Exhibits "A" and "B" respectively; and, WHEREAS, said Petition Sponsors have carefully considered the public comment and input, and have thoroughly debated, discussed, and deliberated the issues, and have made final determinations as to each of the issues, as required by law, by at least a majority of the total number of said Petition Sponsors on each issue (at least three out of five); and, BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED THAT: 1. Rob Smout shall continue to be the Contact Sponsor for said Petition Sponsors and shall be the Chair of this and any other public hearing or meeting held by the Petition Sponsors, and Duncan Torr Murray shall continue to be the Attorney and Recorder for said Petition Sponsors, and that he shall continue to be able to represent said Petition Sponsors as allowed by law; and, 2. The total number of city council members for Marriott-Slaterville City shall be five; and, 3. The total number of city council districts for Marriott-Slaterville City shall be two, to be numbered 1 (east district) and 2 (west district), with the city council district boundary line to run down the middle of 1900 West, and with each city council district to elect two city council members, and with one city council member to be elected at large; and, 4. The initial terms of the mayor and city council members for Marriott-Slaterville City shall be as follows: the initial term of three city council members (one council member from each of city council districts 1 and 2 and one at large city council member) shall terminate in January 2000, as required by law, and the initial term of the mayor and of two city council members (one council member from each of city council districts 1 and 2) shall terminate in January 2002, as required by law, and the candidates for the two city council members for city council district 1 shall be voted for on the same ballot position by the voters voting for two of those listed and with the candidate 158 |
