Your offer to provide notice of relevant information to these individuals regarding issues involving the Defense Depot area and or the Marriott-Slaterville area is greatly appreciated. Please note that the resident voters have opted for the Council-Mayor form of government, making Marriott-Slaterville City the first city in Weber County to follow in Ogden City's footsteps in this regard. The following "sponsors" are the acting mayor and acting city council for limited purposes until the November 3, 1998 general elections: Keith Butler, Acting Mayor (W) 731 -2112 (H) 392-7084, 1613 West 400 North, MSC, UT 84404 Rob Smout, Acting City Council Chair (W) 237-1065 (H) 731-1617,105 South 2250 West, MSC, UT 84404 William Marriott Morris, Acting City Council Member, 2249 West 700 South, MSC, UT 84404 Delbert Hodson, Acting City Council Member, 475 South 1200 West, MSC, UT 84404 Steven Mecham, Acting City Council Member, 843 West 17th St., MSC, UT 84404 Dennis E. Ilium, Acting City Council Member, 949 North 1200 West, MSC, UT 84404 Duncan Torr Murray, Acting City Attorney/City Recorder, see letterhead above We appreciate the involvement that Ogden City has accorded these Marriott-Slaterville City officials in the past and we hope to expand that involvement and coordination in the future. In particular, we would request that Ogden City add two new positions to the DDO Reuse Committee to represent Marriott-Slaterville City. We would recommend that Keith Butler (listed above as acting mayor) and Jacalyn Westergard (2219 West 2700 North, Farr West, UT 84404), a historian in the Marriott-Slaterville area, be appointed to these two positions. We would also appreciate continued representation on the RAB, Planning Advisory Committee, and other boards and committees associated with the Defense Depot and Marriott-Slaterville areas, with regards to planning and zoning, transportation, historical, and other issues. We would further respectfully request that the DDO area be renamed as "East Marriott" or "Marriott Park". A 1941 newspaper article reflects that the Defense Depot Ogden was almost 166 |
