10 The school was again reorganized on February 25, 1877 by President George Q. Cannon and George Goddard, Superintendents of the General Sunday School Board. The following is taken from the minutes of that meeting: School was called to order by Superintendent Salisburg. Singing was "Come we that love the Lord." Prayer by Helon H. Tracy, Sr. Arthur Parsons read the suggestions of Superintendent George Q. Cannon in regard to the organization and regulations of Sunday School. President Simon Halverson said it was his whole desire to see the Sunday School prosper, and stated his willingness to assist to the extent of his ability. He said the young were to attend Sabbath School regularly and if they did they would obtain knowledge and power to do right. Brother Joyce expressed his great desire to see an excellent school. Supt. Salisburg expressed his pleasure at reopening the Sunday School and pleasure of having the presence of our President, Brother Halverson and counselor Brother Joyce, together with their good counsel and advice. Brother Helon H. Tracy, Sr., moved that we organize the Sunday School today and the motion was carried. President Halverson moved that we sustain Brother Thomas Salisburg as Superintendent of the Sunday School. Superintendent Salisburg selected Arthur Parsons and Helon H. Tracy, Sr., as his assistants and John D. Powell and Samuel Halverson as secretaries. Brother John Ritchie, Bernard Parry and Moroni Marriott volunteered as deacons for Sunday School. Singing "Our Own Sunday School." Prayer by President Halverson. Superintendent Salisburg recited the following and asked for all to try to remember: "A Sabbath well spent brings a week of content, with health the toils of tomorrow. But a Sabbath profaned, what ere may be gained, is certainly a forerunner of sorrow." 380
