Show school in the country has a dean to match Arjay Miller. He will see to it that Stanford's School of Business remains second to none. When one is being honored as I am being honored tonight, certainly its timely to remember that no one succeeds solely on his own. There are always present the older men who believed in him and put opportunity in his path - the associates within the company who worked with him, pushed him up the ladder, and protected him from his folly - those outside the company who were constant companions in civic and educational endeavors and contributed the rich treasure of their friendship - and the family that made the house a happy home. With all of these I have been richly endowed and they have made me a member of a rare breed - a truly happy man. To them and to you my abundant thanks. # # # -4- |
