OCR Text	Show 4. THING. BOB JAEDICKE HAD GONE PUBLIC THAT HE WAS NOT A CANDIDATE. EVERYONE SAID HE WAS TOO SMART TO TAKE THE JOB PERMANENTLY. HORNGREN HAD STATED THE SEARCH COMMITTEE WANTED A "PRACTITIONER." EVEN SO, I REALLY GOT WORRIED THAT HIS COWBOY HAT WAS IN THE RING WHEN I SAW THAT PHOTOGRAPH OF JAEDICKE IN THE ALUMNI REVIEW. THERE HE WAS - TEN GALLON HAT, LARIAT, AND LEVIS. WITH WALLY HAAS ON THE SEARCH COMMITTEE IT WAS AN OBVIOUS PLOY, EITHER THAT OR HE HAS BEEN MODELING FOR MARLBORO. I INSIST MY EXPECTATIONS WERE NOT UNREASONABLE. I HAD BEEN INTIMATELY INVOLVED IN THE SELECTION OF BOTH ERNIE ARBUCKLE AND ARJAY MILLER. I AM ONE OF ONLY THREE WHO WERE ON THE ORIGINAL ADVISORY COUNCIL WHO ARE ON THE PRESENT BODY. THE OTHER TWO ARE HARDLY FORMIDABLE COMPETITORS. MACNAUGHTON IS OLDER THAN REAGAN. BOB MCNAMARA IS A VERY GOOD MAN WITH NUMBERS AND THE TAX-FREE ASPECT OF HIS PRESENT SALARY PLUS THE JOB SECURITY HE ENJOYS GO A LONG WAY TO EXPLAIN HIS ACTION IN LEAVING FORD MOTOR CO.
