COKING COAL AND IRON ORE ARE RAW MATERIALS FOR THE STEEL INDUSTRY, WHILE STEAM COAL AND URANIUM ARE USED FOR THE GENERATION OF ELECTRICITY AND THUS ALONG WITH PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS ARE IN THE ENERGY FIELD. IT IS FAIR TO SAY THAT UTAH INTERNATIONAL HAS IN RECENT YEARS ENJOYED GOOD FORTUNE AND THE TRANSITION FROM A CONSTRUCTION COMPANY TO AN INTERNATIONAL NATURAL RESOURCE COMPANY HAS SERVED THE SHAREHOLDERS WELL. WHEN I JOINED THE COMPANY IN 1951, IT WAS EARNING ABOUT $2 MILLION ANNUALLY AND WORTH AROUND $10 MILLION BASED ON THE MARKET PRICE OF ITS INACTIVELY TRADED STOCK.
