Show 2. CLOSELY TO THE SHARE OF SUPPORT FROM THE VARIOUS MINING GROUPS THAT EXISTED IN EARLIER YEARS. CERTAINLY THESE ARY VERY DIFFICULT DAYS IN WASHINGTON. THIS IS SO FOR BUSINESS GENERALLY AND FOR THE MINING BUSINESS IN PARTICULAR. IT SEEMS TO BE OPEN SEASON TO ATTACK PRIVATE ENTERPRISE AND IN THE POLITICAL ARENA THE MINING INDUSTRY IS ESPECIALLY VULNERABLE. THIS IS SO IN PART BECAUSE, COMPARED TO OTHERS, WE ARE NOT A LARGE EMPLOYER AND OUR ACTIVITIES ARE NECESSARILY CONCENTRATED IN THE RELATIVELY FEW STATES THAT ARE RICH IN MINERALS. IT IS ALSO TRUE THAT THESE STATES ARE GENERALLY AMONG THE LESS POPULATED. So THE MINING INDUSTRY LACKS THE POLITICAL CLOUT THAT/LARGE NUMBERS OF PEOPLE/DIRECTLY CONCERNED CARR WITH IT. BECAUSE WE DO NOT SELL AT THE RETAIL LEVEL, PEOPLE OFTEN FAIL TO REALIZE THE ABSOLUTELY VITAL ROLE MINING PLAYS IN THE WORLD'S ECONOMY. DESPITE OUR CONSTANT |
