NOR HAVE THE MORAL STANDARDS OF SOME NATIONS STOOD UP WELL UNDER TEMPTATION, ONCE THE THREAT OF FORCE WAS REMOVED AS A DETERRENT, NO LONGER FEARING RETALIATION, THE STAGE HAS BEEN SET FOR THE LOCAL DEMAGOGUE TO APPEAL TO NATIONALISM IN ITS MOST INSIDIOUS FORM AND TO RALLY POPULAR SUPPORT FOR ACTIONS PREJUDICIAL TO FOREIGN NATIONS AND THEIR NATIONALS FOR THE ALLEGED AND PRESUMED BENEFIT OF THE DOMESTIC PEOPLE AND THEIR ECONOMY.
