Show Edmund W. Littlefield Shareholder's Meeting Remarks 2-12-74 LADIES AND GENTLEMEN: You have already been mailed a copy of the annual report for 197 3 and an additional copy is at your place. It describes in considerable detail the developments that transpired during 1973 and the progress that has been made. 1973 was another year of record earnings. The net income of $52,050,000, or $1.80 a share represents an increase of 30% over the prior year. In essence, 1973 was a year in which a 58% increase in coking coal shipments and a 28% increase in booked copper shipments, coupled with an increase in the average price of copper received of 20.6 a pound, produced substantially higher earnings that were tempered by a sharp decrease in uranium deliveries and lower earnings from Marcona. |
