Show 11. another phase of the project, most of the balance of the concentrates would be shipped as pellet feed in Marcona vessels to Saudi Arabia where it would be converted to metallized pellets and fed into direct reduction furnaces in a new steel plant to be constructed and owned 50% by Petromin (Saudi-government corporation) and 50% by the Marcona Group in which Marcona will have a major participation. Fuel for pelletizing and steel making will be natural gas now being flared and wasted in the Saudi-Arabian oil fields and which will be furnished to the new pelletizing and steel-making facilities at a bargain price. Marcona's ships will carry oil back to Brazil on the return voyage. This plan is still in the study stage but it is a concept that has excited great interest. It |
