SO WE SET OUT TO ACQUIRE MINING PERSONNEL AND HERE THE RECORD SUGGESTS WE CAME UP WITH THE BEST. BECAUSE WE WERE ON THE MOVE WHILE OUR COMPETITORS WERE PROCEEDING LESS AGGRESSIVELY, WE ATTRACTED THOSE WHO WERE MORE VENTURESOME, MORE DETERMINED TO GET THINGS DONE, MORE SKILLED IN CONCEIVING WHAT TO DO. UTAH HAS DISPLAYED OVER THE YEARS THE ABILITY TO RECOGNIZE OPPORTUNITY AND TO GET IN ITS WAY. THE IRON ORE DEPOSITS NEAR CEDAR CITY WERE KNOWN IN BRIGHAM YOUNG'S TIME BUT IT TOOK THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE COLUMBIA GENEVA PLANT AT PROVO DURING WORLD WAR II TO MAKE THEM VALUABLE.
