Show 2. rate of infinity. Since that time the return on capital and the growth rate have both tended to decline. However in recent years by ordinary standards the company has given a good account of itself. The growth rate has been over 15% for the past 20 years and over 19% in the last 5 years based on the earnings of 1972. When the 1973 results are available, I believe that this growth rate will show still further improvement. The dividend rate has been increased in each of the last 23 years. Since 1952 earnings have dipped in only four years and earnings have increased every year since 1963. The performance of the market price of our shares has been even more spectacular. Adjusting for splits, one could have purchased the shares at $3 ten years ago, less than $12 five year |
