Show 17. declined modestly in 1970, increased very sharply in 1971, and as expected declined in 1972. Despite this decline the 1972 contribution to income from this source was the second highest on record. Two affiliated companies are responsible for most of this source of income. We hold a 25% interest in Pima Mining Company, a producer of copper concentrates in the Tucson area. (Slide 7 - on). The long-term trend of Pima's earnings has been upward, as its productive capacity has been very substantially expanded. The other significant variable however is price, and as copper prices fluctuate, year-to-year comparisons are affected. So it was in 1972 when copper prices declined.
