Show 2. MAY BE, WAS ESPECIALLY WELCOME. THE LITTLEFIELD HOME WAS AT 2528 MADISON AVENUE IN OGDEN. THE HOUSE ITSELF WAS MODEST AND COMPLETELY WITHOUT CHARM BUT THE BACK YARD WAS FULL OF FASCINATION FOR A YOUNG BOY. BY MY TIME THE BARN HAD BEEN CONVERTED INTO A GARAGE BUT THE BACK YARD STILL CONTAINED FRUIT TREES OF EVERY DESCRIPTION, CHICKENS, THE COAL SHED AND THE WOOD SHED, THE UNDERGROUND CELLAR FOR FOOD STORAGE, AND A SHACK THAT HOUSED BOUND VOLUMES OF EVERY ISSUE OF THE OGDEN NEWSPAPERS WITH WHICH MY GRANDFATHER WAS ASSOCIATED. THESE WERE LITTLE CONSULTED AND THEIR HISTORICAL VALUE LITTLE APPRECIATED, AND I CANNOT LEARN WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM. I WAS TOO YOUNG TO SPEND MUCH TIME PERUSING THEM BUT I DO REMEMBER BEING STRUCK BY ONE OF MY GRANDFATHER'S EDITORIALS POINTING OUT IN CLEAR AND UNMISTAKABLE TERMS THE INHERENT EVIL OF |
