This backlog does not include any forward sales by Marcona or Pima but consists only of Utah's long-term sales contracts for iron ore, uranium, copper steam coal and coking coal. More than 80% of the sales under these contracts contain escalation clauses of varying types protecting us against future cost increases. The contracts covering production at Cedar City and Navajo are supply contracts under which the annual deliveries are based on the customers' needs. The remainder involve the delivery of fixed tonnages within the contract period, although the annual delivery may in some cases at the buyer's option vary moderately up or down from the annual average.
