Show 10. WHEN WE WERE WRONG, AND THE COURAGE AND THE CHARACTER TO CORRECT OUR MISTAKES. WE SOLD OUR CONSTRUCTION ASSETS WHEN THIS DIVISION HAD ACHIEVED THE HIGHEST PROFITABILITY IN ITS HISTORY. AT THE TIME OF THE SALE OF THE CONSTRUCTION DIVISION ACCOUNTED FOR OVER 60% OF OUR GROSS REVENUES, 48% OF OUR SALARIED EMPLOYMENT, AND 69% OF OUR TOTAL EMPLOYMENT. IT WAS THE TRADITIONAL BUSINESS OF THE COMPANY BUT WE WERE CONVINCED THAT IT HAD TO GO BECAUSE THE NATURE AND THE VOLATILITY OF ITS EARNINGS WOULD NEVER RECEIVE FAVORABLE RECOGNITION FROM THE INVESTING PUBLIC. IF OUR PERFORMANCE WAS IMPRESSIVE, IT WAS FAR FROM FLAWLESS. IN OUR SEARCH TO PUT OUR SKILLS AND OUR EQUIPMENT TO BETTER USE, WE CONCEIVED THE IDEA THAT AS EARTHMOVERS WE COULD EARN MONEY MAKING OTHERWISE USELESS LAND USABLE. NEAR THE SAN FRANCISCO |
