ALF CAME TO STANFORD FROM KISKI PREP, ALONG WITH "MONK" MOSCRIP, "BONES" HAMILTON, AND THE NEXT YEAR JIM REYNOLDS, JR. LATER WITH BOB REYNOLDS AND KEITH TOPPING THEY ALL BECAME ZETES AND MEMBERS OF THE "VOW BOYS". YOU WILL HAVE TO ADMIT THAT ALF TURNED OUT PRETTY WELL, CONSIDERING THE KIND OF COMPANY HE KEPT. ALF LATE BECAME THE PRESIDENT OF THE FRATERNITY, A MEMBER OF MEN'S COUNCIL, AND PRESIDENT OF PHI PHI, THE SENIOR HONORARY SOCIETY. A "BIG MAN ON CAMPUS" AND ONE DESTINED TO FULFIL HIS EARLY PROMISE. I MET ALF THE FIRST DAY I TOOK UP RESIDENCE IN ENCINA HALL. BESIDES HASHING, ALF ALSO HAD A JOB REPRESENTING PHELPS-TERKEL SELLING MEN'S CLOTHES ON THE CAMPUS. IN THE DAYS WHEN FRESHMEN WORE MOLESKINS AND UPPER CLASSMEN WORE CORDUROYS, ALF DID HIS BEST TO EXCITE INTEREST IN SOMETHING A LITTLE MORE STYLISH |
