THE MANTLE OF LEADERSHIP PASSED TO YOUNGER AND MORE CAPABLE HANDS - HARRY MORRISON, HENRY KAISER, AND MOST IMPRESSIVELY, STEVE BECHTEL, SR. HARRY MORRISON KEPT DOING THE SAME OLD THING THAT MORRISON-KNUDSEN AND UTAH HAD DONE FOR YEARS BUT HE DID IT ON A VASTER SCALE. WHEN I JOINED UTAH M-K WAS FOUR TIMES UTAH'S SIZE ALMOST ANY WAY YOU WANTED TO MEASURE IT. HENRY KAISER PUT THE KAISER ENTERPRISES DOWN A DIFFERENT PATH WITH VERY CONSIDERABLE SUCCESS. STEVE BECHTEL FOLLOWED STILL A DIFFERENT COURSE WHICH YOU GENTLEMEN HAVE REFINED AND EXPANDED AND ONE WHICH HAS EARNED THE ENVIOUS ADMIRATION AND RESPECT OF THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY. ONLY BECHTEL WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN PRIVATE OWNERSHIP. |
