Show 21. The future is further clouded by the no-decision decision of the Supreme Court which had the effect of requiring that there be no "significant deterioration" in air quality even in areas where the air quality was already better than the national requirement under the Clean Air Act. This is a problem with which the EPA is currently contending and for which it is trying to draft appropriate regulations. At Navajo we are awaiting approvals of a plan to produce synthetic gas from coal to be supplied from our Navajo reserves. Utah has entered into a long-term contract with Pacific Lighting and Texas Eastern Transmission who stand ready to build the first of four contemplated plants to produce 250 million cubic feet of gas a day. Each plant expects to consume 9. 6 million tons of coal |
