Show 7. IN UTAH SHARES THAT $1,000 INVESTMENT IN 1956 WOULD BE WORTH ALMOST $70,000 TODAY. I THINK IT IS FAIR TO SAY THAT THE COMPANY HAS MADE GOOD PROGRESS AND HAS SERVED ITS OWNERS WELL. IT DID SO BY RECOGNIZING ITS WEAKNESSES AND CHANGING THEM WHILE AT THE SAME TIME IT TOOK ADVANTAGE AND BUILT ON ITS STRENGTHS AND ITS OPPORTUNITIES. CURRENTLY THE DOMINANT PROFIT CENTERS IN UTAH'S OPERATIONS ARE THE FOUR COKING COAL MINES IN QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA PRODUCING THIS YEAR ABOUT 16 1/2 MILLION METRIC TONS. APPROXIMATELY 3/4 OF THIS IS COMMITTED TO THE JAPANESE STEEL INDUSTRY AND THE MOST OF THE BALANCE TO STEEL MILLS IN EUROPE. WE ARE NOW READY TO PROCEED WITH A FIFTH MINE IN NORWICH PARK. UTAH IS ALSO A SIGNIFICANT PRODUCER OF IRON ORE DIRECTLY THROUGH ITS IRON SPRINGS MINE NEAR CEDAR CITY, UTAH, THROUGH UTAH DEVELOPMENT COMPANY'S ONE THIRD INTEREST IN MT. GOLDSWORTHY IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA, THROUGH MARCONA, WHICH PRODUCES |
