Show 19. in the stockpile. Our Iron Springs mine was Utah's original entry into the mining business and is nearing the end of its life. The contract with U. S. Steel under which most of the output is sold is in the process of being extended from 1975 to 1980. Earnings for 1974 may decline modestly from '73 levels because we anticipate a less favorable product mix and more difficult mining conditions as the reserves dwindle. Steam coal is used for the generation of electricity. Near Farmington, New Mexico Utah's Navajo mine produces approximately 7 million tons of coal yearly to fuel 5 generating units under long-term contracts with a group of utility companies.
