I ALSO CAME ACROSS IN HIS HANDWRITING THE DRAFT OF AN EDITORIAL WRITTEN IN HIS OGDEN DAYS WHICH SAYS IN PART: "CONTINUING, THE MAYOR OF OGDEN SAID, 'I DECIDED WHEN I DECLINED TO BECOME A CANDIDATE FOR CONGRESS TO GET OUT OF POLITICS YOU 'DECLINED' TO BE A CANDIDATE? WHY, YOU SNIVELING SYCOPHANT, YOU GOT DOWN ON YOUR KNEES EVERY PLACE IN THIS STATE TO EVERY MAN YOU THOUGHT HAD ANY INFLUENCE, AND BEGGED AND SUPPLICATED AND WHINED AND MADE PROMISES ASKING, PRAYING FOR, SUPPLICATING SUPPORT FROM THE FIRST PRESIDENT OF THE MORMON CHURCH TO THE LOWEST WARD |
