January 36 inches of rain fell at Hay point, the port from which we ship coking coal to our customers When the storm conditions were at their worst, all three mines could not function and the employees could not travel from their homes to Peak Downs while Goonyella could only be reached with four-wheel drive vehicles. Although production in January was severely curtailed by the rains, fortunately the physical facilities, equipment and mine communities were not significantly damaged. Although this is still the rainy season, the weather has been fair this past week. Production at Black-water and Peak Downs is quickly being returned to normal levels, but we anticipate that it will require about one month to restore full production at
