MR. LITTLEFIELD, OF COURSE, HAS NO WORD TO SAY IN DEFENSE OF SUCH A SCOUNDREL, BUT SIMPLY WISHES TO DEFEND THE REPUTATION OF THE POST, WHICH HAS BEEN MORE OR LESS AFFECTED BY HAVING SUCH A FELLOW IDENTIFIED WITH IT. UNDER THE ABOVE HEAD, MR. L.
