Show 3. Pleasantville and due west from What Cheer. Ermina, she was Ermina Dunn in those days, came from solid stock and attended Central College where her admission was eased by virtue of the fact that her grandfather had been the college's first President. At Central she belonged to the Alethia Society, the oldest girls' society on the campus but not necessarily containing the oldest girls. It was a learned group with a Latin yell "Dux Femina Facta." For those whose Latin is as rusty as mine, Dux means leadership and femina and facta are reasonably obvious, which leads me to the conclusion that this was one of the earliest groups advocating women's lib.
