Show 8. part from actions and inactions by the Peruvian government and in part from the true intentions of the existing government toward private enterprise in general and Marcona in particular. The current problems center around unauthorized work stoppages with settlements dictated by the government on a basis unsatisfactory to Marcona and uneconomic under today's competitive conditions. What the true intentions of the Peruvian government are toward Marcona in the future is far from clear at the present time. The government and Marcona have a present under-standing which gives the government an option to acquire a 50% interest in the Peruvian facilities when the present concession expires in 1982 but there are indications that the government would like to acquire |
