IT'S ALSO, AS SAMUEL HUNTINGTON POINTS OUT IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST, THE RISE OF NATIONAL MEDIA IN THE PAST COUPLE OF DECADES; NATIONAL TELEVISION NETWORKS, NATIONAL NEWS MAGAZINES, NATIONAL NEWSWIRES, AND NEWSPAPERS WITH NATIONAL REACH SUCH AS THE WASHINGTON POST AND THE NEW YORK TIMES. THESE MEDIA HAVE SHOWN AN EXTRAORDINARY CAPACITY TO CHANGE NATIONAL VALUES - THROUGH THEIR POPULARIZATION OF THE CAMPUS REVOLUTION IN THE 1960'S FOR EXAMPLE.
