Show San Francisco is a city with a sense of history and a perception of the relative importance of things. Here in North Beach there is a brass plaque dedicated to one Duncan Nicol with the Latin inscription reading: "Benefactor Humani Generis" and whose contribution to mankind was the invention of and the serving of Pisco Punch. Credit is not always properly apportioned. More people may know "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" but certainly Chopin would have preferred to be remembered by "Fantasie Impromptu" or the "Polonaise." So it may be with our next director whose company has a truly impressive list of products and tools that have effected significant cost savings and production breakthroughs but, alas, whose best-remembered contribution to civilization may end up being the invention of the plastic beverage carrier for the "6-pack."
